2008 FORD YOUTH WORLD SHOW BIGGEST ON RECORD

The American Quarter Horse Journal, July 31, 2008Members of the American Quarter Horse Youth Association are heading to Oklahoma City for the largest Ford Youth World Show ever. The excitement begins August 1 and will continue through August 9 at State Fair Park.

The 2008 Ford Youth World Show is bigger and better than ever before. Already the world’s largest single-breed show for youth, this year the show has increased by 38 percent with 2,748 entries. The Oklahoma City economy will get a $14.6 million boost during the show’s run.  read more>>

NRCHA Members Earn Top Honors at 2008 APHA World Show

National Reined Cow Horse Association members met with much success at the 2008 American Paint Horse Association World Show, held June 21-July 5 at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
In the Senior Working Cow Horse, Lawrence Steed took top honors with Smart Master Plan, owned by Greg and Jonnie Flewelling of Indiantown, Florida. Bozo Rogers and One Smokin Chic earned the Reserve title for Anderson Cattle Company.
In Junior Working Cow Horse, Todd Crawford rode Cookin Merada to the Championship. Cookin Merada, owned by Gary and Kathy Benton of Andover, Kansas, finished third in the Open division at the 2007 Snaffle Bit Futurity.
The 2007 Snaffle Bit Futurity Intermediate Open Champion, Robbie Boyce, piloted Six Ninety Five to Reserve Honors. Six Ninety Five is owned by Mark and Amanda Johnson of Whitesboro, Texas.
NRCHA member Joe Cunningham of Stonewall, Louisiana, rode Smokeys June Bug to the Amateur title, while Ramona, California native Robert Holloway earned Reserve honors on Matalenas Rascal.

The NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity - Better than Ever

The 39th Annual National Reined Cow Horse Association Snaffle Bit Futurity, slated for September 21 - October 5 in Reno, Nevada, is expected to be bigger and better than ever. The Reno Livestock Events Center will host the event, and the familiar venue should be bursting at the seams.
As other NRCHA Premier events have continued with steady growth in 2008, there is little doubt that the biggest of them all – the Snaffle Bit Futurity – will follow the same trend, and that could mean upwards of 1500 horses converging on the Reno Livestock Event Center. read more>>

Co-Champions rule Ford NCHA Super Stakes: NCHA Futurity champion High Brow CD and Futurity finalist Playin N Fancy Smart each marked 227 to split first place in the 2008 Ford NCHA Super Stakes which concluded in Fort Worth on April 20. High Brow CD (right) is a son of High Brow Cat ridden by Austin Shepard for Grace Ranch. Playin N Fancy Smart is a daughter of Smart Little Lena ridden by Kory Pounds for Slate River Ranch. Jesse and Stacy Westfall, their three boys (Caleb, Joshua and Nathan) and Whizards Baby Doll with daytime TV personality Ellen DeGeneres.

Last Friday, AQHA life member and America’s Horse columnist Stacy Westfall and her horse, Whizards Baby Doll, appeared on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." 

This was no cameo appearance. During the one-hour show, Ellen went back and forth between Stacy and two other guests, devoting a good portion of the broadcast to Stacy and Roxy's visit.
